National Safety Month 2019
According to the National Safety Council (NSC), a worker is injured on the job every seven seconds in the United States. That is why the National Safety Council and safety professionals around the country are working to prevent these injuries. One of the ways that the NSC promotes safety is through National Safety Month which takes place during the month of June. The NSC’s focus for the month is to “increase awareness of the leading safety and health risks and ultimately decrease the number of unintentional injuries and deaths.”
While safety should be a focus throughout the year, National Safety Month is a good time for employers and workers to recommit to identifying hazards and preventing injuries in the workplace. Every year the NSC picks four safety topics to highlight during the month of June.
The four topics for National Safety Month 2019 are:
- Hazard Recognition
- Trips and Falls
You can find free downloadable resources for each safety topic at the National Safety Council’s website at https://www.nsc.org/. Click on “Get Free Materials” on the website’s homepage. They will ask you to sign up at no cost in order to access many useful safety tools that can benefit your organization and keep your employees safe. These resources include fact sheets, social media graphics, and other useful articles that can help promote safety in your workplace.
