Through our work in relation to school district liability coverage, APEI has recognized a need to help school districts protect their students from sexual abuse. Over the past few years, APEI has been working with several organizations and individuals to develop training to help all school districts recognize the warning signs of potential abuse. We would like to invite our school district members to attend our first presentation of, “Professional Boundaries for Alaska School Staff” on Wednesday, February 3rd at 1:00-2:30 PM.

In this presentation we will show educators how to recognize professional boundaries and violations of those boundaries. We will also describe how boundary violations have the potential to lead to sexual abuse, how adhering to professional boundaries can help prevent sexual abuse in schools, and how and when to report boundary invasions.
