The Administrative Assistant performs the day-to-day administrative needs of the organization and provides administrative support for all members of staff.  The primary duties of the Administrative Assistant include processing incoming and outgoing mail and scanning documents into APEI’s electronic filing system; completing administrative tasks related to accounts receivable and accounts payable; developing forms, form letters, and templates using Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook; coordinating travel; and working with staff on projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, skills, and abilities desired for this position include:

Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and two years office or financial administrative experience.

Language Skills:  Ability to read, speak, write, and understand the English language. This position requires good communication skills.

Technical Skills and Experience: 

  • Strong skills in using Microsoft Word and, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat, including experience in creating forms, templates, and other documents that can be used by others. Interest in and ability to self-teach oneself advanced techniques to enable APEI staff to take advantage of the more powerful functions of these software packages.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn other Microsoft Office Suite products, including PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel, as well as QuickBooks.

SALARY 

$20 – $25 hourly depending on qualifications.  Employee benefits include a 401(k) plan, paid holidays, and paid vacation.

LOCATION

This is a part-time position in Juneau, for 15 to 20 hours per week. The specific days per week and hours per day are flexible and can be scheduled to accommodate the needs of APEI and the person in this position.
