April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month
According to the National Safety Council, at least nine Americans die and 100 are injured in distracted driving crashes every day. More than 400,000 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes in 2018 alone. Cell phones, dashboard touchscreens, voice commands and other in-vehicle technologies pose a threat to our safety. The consequences of those distractions are not worth the convenience they offer.
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and the National Safety Council has tools and materials that help recognize the dangers of distracted driving and show us how to eliminate these preventable accidents. The materials include free posters, fact sheets, infographics, webinars and many other useful tools that can aid your organization by educating employees in preventing injuries and deaths due to distracted driving.
To sign up for the National Safety Council’s free materials, go to their website at https://www.nsc.org/road-safety/get-involved/distracted-driving-awareness-month. On their website you will find many other useful safety tools that can benefit your organization and keep your employees safe. As always, you are welcome to contact Cole Cummins, APEI’s Loss Control Manager for additional guidance at firstname.lastname@example.org.
